Dawes Cycles is a premier name within the UK bicycle manufacturing industry in the UK, and was part of the GIL portfolio during the late 1990s.
Dawes bikes were made in Castle Bromwich for many years until production moved to China in the 1990s. GIL acquired the business from ATAG Cycle Group and were able to carry out something of a turnaround in its fortunes before selling the company to Tandem Plc in 2001.
